The report
The report is where most of it goes wrong.
A materiality assessment tells a company where to look. A greenhouse-gas inventory tells it how bad the number is. Neither tells the sustainability director standing in front of the board why any of it deserves next year's budget.
That gap is where most sustainability work quietly dies.
